Information:
Tyler would have a very
disturbing and violent upbringing. Born to parents addicted to the
mind altering drug, crystal dust, he learned at a young age to what
it meant to fend for himself.
By the age of 15 he was
working three jobs, supporting himself, as well as his parents and
his younger brother, then 8. His grades weren't great, but they kept
him in school. His break came one summer when the civilian
freighter, The Cook, needed an engineering assistant. Taking
a gamble he applied for the position and was hired. This would serve
to be the turning point in his life.
While aboard the Cook
he traveled to all corners of the galaxy. The captain was so
impressed with his work that he hired him full time and even
arranged for a tutor to accompany him on their voyages, so that he
could still get an education. After three years with the Cook,
the captain prodded him to join the academy. The captain of the
Cook, also offered to take care of Tyler's little brother, Ryan.
Starfleet Career:
Where as several other members
shined in the academy, Tyler was not so lucky. His saving grace was
his ability to patch damaged systems together again in record time,
saving his captain and ship in more then one simulation.
The classes began to take
their toll on him, so he enrolled in Starfleets martial arts program
as well. This helped him vent the stress he had at his classes and
honed him into a highly effective and deadly warrior.
His first posting was aboard
the USS Roger Young, a retro fitted Ambassador class vessel.
He was assigned as chief engineer's assistant, but was quickly
promoted when the Chief engineer was killed in a mission on the
outskirts of the neutral zone. The details of this mission are quite
sketchy and Starfleet Command had refused comment on many occasions.
He served with the Roger
Young for nearly a year and a half as ships chief engineer
before the Federation entered the war against the Dominion. During
this conflict, the Roger Young would be a part of many of the
key battles. Sadly however, she would not survive the assault that
retook Deep Space Nine.
Heavily damaged and being
strafed by fighters, the captain of the Roger Young ordered
the crew to abandon ship. Tyler and his engineering crew were one of
the last ones to leave, and had to fight past several members of a
Dominion boarding party to reach the escape pods. When he finally
managed to get away, the Roger Young was destroyed by a wing
of Jem Hadar fighters.
After being retrieved by the
USS Intrepid, Tyler was re-assigned to DS9. After the
destruction of the USS Navajo, Tyler heard there would be a position
open on board the USS Navajo-A. He applied for the position and was
accepted. Tyler has since proven to be one of the most creative and
resourceful engineers in Starfleet, creating more then on miracle on
the Navajo.
